The Brief:

Mountain Warehouse are the UK's largest outdoor retailers. For their Summer Steal campaign, promoting their waterproof range at sale prices, they needed lifestyle imagery that put the product in the right trendy light.

Two evenings. Two locations. One campaign deadline.

The approach:

Summer campaign photography for an outdoor brand lives or dies on authenticity. Mountain Warehouse's audience are genuine outdoor people. Walkers, hikers, campers, and they respond to imagery that feels like it was actually taken outside rather than dressed up to look that way.

We shot across two evenings, the Peak District providing the dramatic, open landscape that gives outdoor lifestyle imagery its sense of scale and environment, and a local field offering a more accessible, everyday outdoors feel that broadened the visual range of the campaign without losing the authentic character the brief demanded.

Both locations were chosen to reflect the dual nature of the garment. A product built for all conditions but worn on everything from a weekend walk to a summer festival. The evening light across both shoots gave the imagery a warmth and atmosphere that separated it from the flat, functional product photography the outdoor category defaults to, keeping the product central while making the imagery genuinely worth looking at.
