The Brief:
Very few briefs begin with exclusive access to a vehicle that doesn't officially exist yet.
Lynk & Co commissioned Visually Rich to document the complete build of a one-of-one concept vehicle from the ground up. Every structural component, every handcrafted detail, every stage of an assembly process that most people outside the room would never get to witness. The documentation needed to serve two purposes simultaneously: a comprehensive visual archive of the build process, and a suite of commercial launch assets ready for an international audience the moment the car was revealed to the world.
There was one additional detail worth noting. Once the build was complete, the car was being crated and flown to China for its global reveal. We had a single 6 hour window to execute the entire final shoot before it left the country. Permanently.
The approach:
We were given behind-the-scenes access across multiple visits throughout the build. Following the car from its earliest structural components through to its final integrated electronics and interior finishing. This wasn't a car with an engine to anchor the story. It was a pure exercise in design, material craft and cutting-edge EV technology, which meant every image had to work harder to communicate what made it extraordinary.
Working closely with the engineers and designers, we built a visual language around the build that reflected Lynk & Co's New Premium philosophy. Rrecise, considered and focused on the tactile and technological details that defined what this car was. The handcrafted interior materials. The integrated LED systems. The assembly sequences that would never be seen again once the panels went on. All of it documented with the same care and attention that went into building it.
The 6 hour final shoot:
When the build was complete the clock started immediately. One day. One car. One chance. Considering some automotive shoots can take 6 hours for 1 image, we were up against it.
We set up a cinematic lighting environment in one of the design studios where the car was built, designed specifically to accentuate the concept's sculptural lines, its surface quality and the unique finishing details that distinguished it from anything in production. No opportunity for a second visit, no reshoots, no safety net of any kind. The assets produced in that single window would serve as the primary press imagery for a global reveal at one of China's most significant automotive events.
The Result:
Lynk & Co received a complete visual archive of the concept vehicle's journey from first component to finished car. A documentation record that no other production could have provided given the access we were granted throughout the build. The final commercial imagery served as the primary press assets for the global reveal, reaching an international automotive audience through one of China's most prominent automotive festivals.
For us it was the kind of brief that defines what we are capable of.
